NDIS Plan Management FAQ

Straight answers on registering, switching, costs and invoices.

    What is NDIS Plan Management?

NDIS plan management is a funded support that handles the financial administration of your plan. Instead of tracking invoices, budgets and payments yourself, a plan manager processes provider invoices, keeps your budget records accurate and reports back to you.

You keep choice and control over which providers you use. The administration sits with us.

How do I register with Forward Planning Plus?

Registration is completed through our secure Planability registration form. You select Register now, complete the form, and we take it from there — including notifying your previous plan manager if you are switching.

We confirm your registration by email and tell you what happens next, so you are not left wondering whether it went through.

    Does plan management cost anything?

No. Where plan management is included in your plan, the NDIA allocates funding specifically for the plan-management service under the Improved Life Choices support category within Capacity Building. It is a separate allocation, so paying a plan manager does not use funding allocated for your other disability supports.

If plan management is not already in your plan, it can be requested at your next plan review.

    How are provider invoices processed?

Valid, correctly submitted invoices are processed within 1–2 business days. If an invoice cannot be processed as submitted — for example a detail is missing or the funding category does not match — we tell you and the provider what needs to change, in plain English.

Processing an invoice is not the same as the NDIA releasing payment, so we describe what we control and keep you updated on the rest.

Can I switch from another plan manager?

Yes. You can change plan managers at any time during your plan, and there is no cost to you for switching. Your supports, budget and approved providers stay the same — only the plan manager changes.

Registration and the service agreement can usually be completed the same day you contact us. The NDIA then needs to record the change, and that timing is outside our control, so we keep you updated rather than promising a fixed date.

Can I choose any provider I want?

Yes. Provided the provider bills in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and the support is consistent with your plan, you can work with both NDIS registered and unregistered providers.

That flexibility is one of the practical differences between plan management and agency management.

What makes Forward Planning Plus different?

You reach our team directly by phone or email rather than an automated queue, and we take ownership of the enquiry instead of redirecting you. Our team's backgrounds include registered nursing, accounting and law, which informs how carefully plans are managed.

The standards we hold ourselves to are the ones we can consistently deliver: professional oversight, direct access to our team, clear funding visibility, and valid, correctly submitted invoices processed within 1–2 business days. Plan management is a funding administration service, so it does not include clinical, financial or legal advice.
